The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which we now know as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to be in her place in the "child prodigy" category. As a person with Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family members did this naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin in Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as held shares of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as young and became very good at it. She combined this interest with an equally natural aptitude for performing. In the end, she received almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances in her home country. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her dreams of classical theater and singing opera.
